In April 2003, a group of Idaho leaders
in the end-of-life community met and began to discuss
the low ranking Idaho received in The Robert Wood
Johnson Foundation
Last Acts Means to a Better End – A Report on Dying in
America Today.
Each month the number of people grew, and
by June 2004 the following individuals and organizations
stepped out of the crowd to become founding partners and
members of A Better Way Coalition: Life on Our Own
Terms. During this formative year a strategic plan
and organizational structure was developed based on the
vision and mission members hold for end-of-life care in
Idaho. A Better Way Coalition: Life on Our Own Terms, a
grassroots community organizing coalition, plans to
become a formal non-profit organization in 2005.
Five organizations joined at the Partner
level. The leadership team is comprised of one
representative from each partner organization and the
Coalition executive director.
